Rice or Roti – make an informed choice

In Asian countries, majority of people intake Rice and/or Wheat as staple foods. The staple foods of people are mainly of Rice, Wheat, Jowar, Maize, etc. These foods are rich in carbohydrate and meets almost 70-80% of the total Calories required by the body daily.
Food choices are associated with culture, races and availability. Southern and Eastern region of India, people are mainly dependent on Rice. They intake these foods in the form of boiled Rice, Rice puffs, flakes, idli, dhosa, kheer etc. Whereas, Northern and Western region, people mainly depend on wheat in the form of Roti, puri, bread, dalia, etc. With better storage and logistics infrastructure, now Rice and Wheat both are available with good quality and quantity all across India.

Rice or Roti – which one is better? 

To answer this, first, let us analyse each important nutrient in same portion of Roti and Rice. The important nutrients are Calories, Carbohydrates, Minerals, Vitamins etc.
