Inetresting comment on Facebook - Managing tomorrow

One of my friends made an interesting comment on his status update on facebook - "Managing Tommorrow".

This forced me to ask a question - Can somebody really manage tomorrow?

I think that managing tomorrow and correcting yesterday ( future and past) is well beyond human capability.

The only thing that we can do is manage today to have the better tommorrow. We can also ensure that the learnings' of the past are leveraged and the mistakes are not repeated.

My self being from six sigma background have been a proponent of Cause and Effect.

We have to manage the cause to have the desired effect. Effects can be cured (managed).

Likewise our focus should be to manage today to have the desired tomorrow (future).

PS - Managing- To have under control and direction; to conduct; to guide; to administer; to treat; to handle

  1. Hey... first time on your blog... this is what came to my mind while reading your post...
While I was in my college I read that 1st step of management is planning. If we have a good present and we plan for a beter tomorrow(Very few people tell and do live in the moment) then may be according to our text books we do manage our tomorrow... but then again text books at times are only meant to get you through college... A confusing thought but a thought provoking thought none the less :)... Great going

  2. hi... I liked what you wrote and would agree with you but only to an extent. I don't think that one can Manage Tomorrow but one can definitely plan tomorrow. You make mistakes, try to learn from them, vow not to repeat them...remind yourself to take just one day at time and then prepare yourself for the challenges that Tomorrow brings. All of us make plans some see success while some are damp squib. So plan tomorrow but don't be anxious for what the future holds as God will prepare you as each day unfolds!
