Socrates - Triple filter test for rumors ... remember those who gossip to you will also gossip about you!!

Image
In ancient Greece, Socrates was reputed to hold knowledge in high esteem. One day an acquaintance met the great philosopher and said, "Do you know what I just heard about your friend?"  "Hold on a minute," Socrates replied. "Before telling me anything I'd like you to pass a little test. It's called the Triple Filter Test."  "Triple filter?"  "That's right," Socrates continued. "Before you talk to me about my friend, it might be a good idea to take a moment and filter what you're going to say. That's why I call it the triple filter test." The first filter is Truth. "Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?" "No," the man said, "actually I just heard about it and..." "All right," said Socrates. "So you don't really know if it's true or not. Now let's try the second filter, the filter of goodness. “Is what yo

This used to be first thing a person used to play after learning to use computer. This is around 33 years old. Can still be played at http://www.google.com/doodles/30th-anniversary-of-pac-man When I was growing up, my dad had the best job I could possibly imagine: he was an arcade game and pinball technician. For me, that meant summer trips through Poland’s coastal cities with their seasonal arcade parlors; peeking inside cabinets to learn programming and engineering secrets; and—of course—free games! One of my favorites was PAC-MAN, whose popularity transcended the geopolitical barriers of that time

Hierarchy and benefits

Image
A hierarchy (Greek: hierarchia (ἱεραρχία), from hierarches , "leader of sacred rites") is an arrangement of items (objects, names, values, categories, etc.) in which the items are represented as being "above," "below," or "at the same level as" one another. Abstractly, a hierarchy can be modelled mathematically as a rooted tree : the root of the tree forms the top level, and the children of a given vertex are at the same level, below their common parent. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hierarchy

Do you refuse to see the change ? Living in Denial

How many of us have the guts to see the change. Most of us even refuse to see the change. As has been said infinite number of times CHANGE IS INEVITABLE AND IS THE ONLY CONSTANT IN NATURE. Those who expect moments of change to be comfortable and free of conflict have not learned their history.  -Joan Wallach Scott Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending. -Maria Robinson You must welcome change as the rule but not as your ruler.  -Denis Waitley There is a certain relief in change, even though it be from bad to worse! As I have often found in traveling in a stagecoach, that it is often a comfort to shift one’s position, and be bruised in a new place.  -Washington Irving The wheel of change moves on, and those who were down go up and those who were up go down. -Jawaharlal Nehru Getting over a painful experience is much like crossing monkey bars. You have to let go at some point in order to move forward. -C.S.
